HURT storms the ESG Tournado

With nature holding the fate of the Empire State Games in doubt until hours before the opening ceremonies HURT nation waited nervously bags packed and ready to ascend upon Lake Placid with hopes of reclaiming the NYSSRA club points lead once and for all.  If the races were to be cancelled, the Evil Empire could be poised to snatch the 4-peat from the reigning champions.  Fortunately salvation came in form a small wiggly fish....

...I mean.....a Huge-A$%-(ok-it-was-pretty-overhyped-at-least-in-our-area-but-we-got-like-8-inches) Snow Storm that swooped in to save the Games on Friday.

The Storm made for an interesting opening prologue on the Dewey Mountain 2.5K freestyle course.  The following pictures tell the tale...

It was great fun and a wonderful addition to the traditional ESG weekend and set the stage for what would be a great Tournado weekend.  The HRT news team was on hand to shoot footage of the weekend...

All in all there was a huge medal haul by the HURT crew as age group depth and diversity once again was shown to be the winning recipe in nordic team competition. Total medal haul.....enough to fill a sunken pirate treasure chest in Nemo's backyard.
